About: The King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is pleased to release this Request for Proposal for Veteran and Family Counseling with funding from the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services (VSHSL) and guidance from the VSHSL Implementation Plan.
This request seeks an entity or entities to help implement VSHSL Strategies HL 1.C and HL 1.D -- to coordinate and oversee the provision of behavioral health and wellness counseling services to U.S. veterans who experience PTSD and other wellness concerns resulting from their military service, along with counseling to help veterans facing end of life. Partner(s) shall also oversee the availability of counseling support for military servicemembers and their families before, during and after deployments and other significant events related to military service. This program shall aim to provide equitable access to funded services in convenient locations to veterans and their family members living throughout King County. Minimum qualifications are that the entity must:
- Be licensed in the State of Washington to coordinate and supervise licensed and/or certified mental health practitioners and peer-support specialists
- Have demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based, evidence-informed and emerging practices and development of treatment plans regarding PTSD, other military-service related trauma, end of life concerns, and the impact of same on veterans, military servicemembers and/or their family members
- Have demonstrated experience coordinating services with the VA and VA CHOICE (the VA’s community-based counseling services), private insurance, and other integrated healthcare systems in order to maximize counseling resources, or demonstrated ability to gain this expertise.
