Introduction
The Department of Community & Human Services (DCHS) Children, Youth and Young Adult Division (CYYAD) is leading the Best Starts for Kids (BSK) strategy designed to help youth and young adults (ages 16-24 years) Transition to Adulthood. CYYAD intends to contract with an agency or agencies to provide services that (i) help young people complete a secondary credential (high school diploma or equivalency), (ii) transition to post-secondary education or advanced training, (iii) complete their first year of post-secondary education or advanced training, and/or (iv) gain employment.
In addition, King County is developing a number of grant programs to assist with the health and economic recovery of the community in response to COVID-19. This includes grants to prepare and provide jobs to individuals experiencing homelessness so that they are able to gain skills and experience to support future stable employment. As these objectives are aligned with Transition to Adulthood strategies, a portion of this RFP will support funded services that are provided to youth who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
