Thank you for your interest in the VSHSL FS 5: Supporting Student Veterans and Their Families Request for Proposals (RFP)!   

Please refer to the RFP document (Attachment A) under the Library tab to see the full RFP details.

OVERVIEW:

The FS 5: Supporting Student Veterans and Their Families RFP seeks to allocate VSHSL funds to provide financial assistance and wraparound supports for King County Veterans and Veteran Family members enrolled in Post-secondary Programs, including, but not limited to, colleges, universities, and trade schools. This will be a pilot program to explore a new avenue to reach Veterans and support their educational aspirations.

Eligibility

This request is open to Post-secondary Programs, including but not limited to: colleges, universities, trade schools, and academic institutions to apply as lead applicants. Nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations, and public or governmental agencies serving communities in King County may apply in collaboration with a Post-secondary Program serving as the lead applicant.

Partnership/Collaborative applications:

Applicants may submit collaborative applications if the lead applicant is a Post-secondary Program. The Post-secondary Program would need to be the lead applicant and, if awarded, subcontract with the other organization(s). The application should clearly identify the lead applicant and clearly describe each organization’s role in the partnership. King County DCHS Subcontracting requirements may be found in the Standard Terms and Conditions (LINK).

Eligible Applications must meet the following qualifications:

The Post-secondary Program must be:

  • Located in Washington state; and
  • Eligible for federal Veteran education benefit payments, as found on the GI Bill Comparison Tool website (LINK)

And

The entire Application (including any partners or collaborators) must:

  • Work with Veterans and Veteran Family members as defined in the glossary of this RFP;
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience providing Case Management to Veterans and Veteran Family members; and
  • Submit a complete and timely application within the scope of work of this RFP as outlined in Section II. C., RFP OVERVIEW: The Request.
