Do NOT start actively looking for a home OR put a contract on a home UNTIL you have been determined as eligible for assistance through the County program! 3. Do NOT open any new credit cards, close any current credit cards, and make any major purchases that are financed or apply for any new financing while you are in this process! 4. We will make copies and notarize any documents for you at no charge. Please do NOT sign any documents that require notarization until you come to your appointment. As per State Statute, the Notary must witness you signing the document.

Housing Rehabilitation
This program is designed to assist homeowners with needed repairs or to address health, safety, and code issues in the home. The program does not cover cosmetic changes or repairs. Assistance is provided in the form of a zero-interest, deferred payment loan, forgivable after 15 to 20 years. Contractors must be pre-approved and in good standing on the county's approved contractors list. Experienced staff help you through the process, handle the bid/contract process, and oversee all work to ensure that all work meets our high standards of workmanship. There are no monthly loan payments as long as you remain in the home as your primary residence. After 20 years, the loan is completely forgiven.
