The Clearfield City CARES – Coronavirus Relief Fund (the “Clearfield City CARES Fund”) is offered pursuant to funding received by Clearfield City, through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”). Funding will be made available to a limited number of businesses that meet specific requirements set by the City.

The Clearfield City CARES Fund will use CARES Act funding, received by the City, to provide grants of a minimum of $1,000 and up to $30,000, dependent on the evidence of past revenue , as well as the number of employees at applicant business. The applicant business must demonstrate a negative impact as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to be considered for funding.

Grant Amounts

Grant will be awarded for the following amounts, or 10% of last year’s revenue, whichever is less.

Sole Proprietor - $5,000

1-9 Employees - $15,000

10+ Employees - $30,000

Special Considerations- A qualifying business applicant may request reconsideration of the maximum grant award that is limited to 10% of last year’s revenue, or the business classification/size.  Any request for reconsideration shall be made in writing, with all supporting documentation, at the time of initial application to the City.  The requesting qualifying applicant presenting the basis for said request shall articulate why Special Consideration should be made, and the amount requested.  A request for Special Consideration is not a guarantee of any change to the grant award limited by the business classification/size and may denied or granted in whole or in part.

The City wants to ensure that as many Clearfield City businesses as possible that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic are qualified to apply for a grant through the Clearfield City CARES Fund. To accomplish this, the City has established minimal eligibility requirements.

  1. Business must be physically located within the boundaries of Clearfield City.
  2. Business experienced a negative impact from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  3. Business must be open, or plan to reopen as of date of application submittal.
  4. Business must be current on property taxes, business license, utilities, and City fees and have no legal actions against or from the City.
  5. Owner must be 18 years or older and have a valid Federal employer identification number (EIN) or if sole proprietor, social security number.
  6. Only one grant award per EIN or Social Security Number will be considered
  7. Businesses must show at least $10,000 in 2019 revenue.
  8. Business has completed the Stay Safe to Stay Open Pledge.
  9. Business must agree to follow the City for a minimum of twelve months on one or more social media platforms.
