The City of Goleta has two grant funding opportunities for organizations serving residents and visitors to the city: the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Goleta City Grant programs.
The City of Goleta receives annual federal grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for its CDBG Program. CDBG funds are administered by HUD and the City manages the use of these funds by carrying out programs and activities that meet the overall goals of the grant, as defined by HUD. To carry out the goals of the CDBG Program, the City relies on nonprofit organizations and, in doing so, offers grants on a competitive basis each year to organizations that provide needed services in support of low- and moderate-income people in Goleta. Subject to funding availability and the approval of City Council in winter of 2020, the City awards CDBG grants to organizations at a minimum of $10,000 per grant.
This application process is combined to include (in addition to CDBG) the Goleta City Grant Program. The Goleta City Grant Program awards funding up to $5,000 to civic services, community projects, and public services that are of benefit to the residents of the city of Goleta.
